Cape: River Island | Top: Primark | Jeans: Topshop | Shoes: Topshop | Clutch: Smash Glam*

Simplicity is really key this season with 'norm core' gaining a lot of fans, I too am loving minimalistic colour palettes and combinations. I received this amazing camel cape/cardigan from my Auntie for my birthday and I love it. It is super soft, warm and can be worn really casually or dressed up a little with heels. It's not quite warm enough to wear out alone at the mo but I think it'll be the perfect item for Spring when it starts to warm up a bit. Pairing it with all black means it is the stand out piece and an all black outfit can never go wrong, right? A turtle neck is the ideal style to wear with the cape as it'll keep you warm and reduces the need for a scarf! I paired with black Joni jeans but any black trouser would have looked good. And to finish off for a smart casual vibe I wore these jewelled Topshop heels. My housemates bought me them for my birthday and although they are pretty darn uncomfortable I think they are perfect for the Christmas/New Year period to jazz up otherwise plain outfits! Another favourite for party season is this Smash Glam clutch, it is a must have if you're out on NYE and its all over embellishment adds a bit of glamour to the night.

Navys for Winter

Cardigan: New Look | Top: Missguided | Trousers: Primark | Shoes: Office

I don't know about anyone else,  but life seems so manic at the moment... the run up to christmas is always a bit hectic and with more than an ideal amount of work to do for my uni module I've been struggling to post as much on here. Also, the fact it's becoming a regular occurrence that I only leave the house the 3 times a week I have lectures slightly impacts on  my outfit choices (it's always the same). Anyway, I've got a post for you here, showing some of my purchases from the last few weeks.

First off is this soft grey cardigan which I got from New Look when they had a 25% offer and I definitely don't regret it. I was lacking in the cardigan department and this fluffy (but not TOO fluffy) number is so warm and I love that it's quite long on me. It ticks all the boxes and feels like really good quality. I am loving the combination of navy and grey and so I paired the cardigan with this pair of culotte/awkward length trousers I picked up in Primark for just £5, yes £5! The pinstripe is something I really like on a pair of trousers and they are a surprisingly soft material. Although they are not full length, I found them pretty warm to wear and didn't moan about the cold any more than I do when wearing jeans. Keeping to the navy theme, I wore this new off the shoulder crop. I ordered it as a potential top to wear for a night out on my birthday (coming up this Friday) but found that it looked great worn casually too. It was super inexpensive at £6.99 and with 20% off it was a bargain and can be worn on so many occasions.

I really loved wearing this outfit as it made a change from the staple jumper, jeans and boots combo I find myself going back to way too often. Have you picked up anything recently that was a bit out of your comfort zone?
